Mayan Mystery Trailer Released!

With the demo version getting closer and closer to being complete, I thought it'd be a good idea to put together a little trailer to show the levels and bosses found in the game. So, without further delay, here it is:

As always, the most up-to-date version of the game is waiting for you at the Adventure Apes website, just click the link below for your copy!

  1. I note that your game "suffer" some vertical scrolling bounces when the player jumps. There was a nice technique detailed in the "Sonic Physics Guides" that allowed me to overcome that lately.

here's the pointer, if this is not something you want to keep for the final release (and still have control over).

  3. Hey PypeBros, I can always count on some good advice and tips from you! I will have to give your method a try. The parallax effect right now happens if you are in any room that is taller (or wider) than the view on-screen, and I admit, when making small jumps or falls, it is a little weird on the eyes. I'll try working on it :)

And as far as Wine goes, I wonder if it's a conflict with the new version of GameMaker that I'm using (just upgraded a couple weeks ago) Something else to look in to...

  4. Big news PypeBros! After much struggling with the parallax effect, I think I've come up with a fix to help smooth things out, literally! The next update I release will have a nice delayed 'camera' motion, so the view takes several frames before centering itself on the player. It makes the repeated jumping actions a lot less jarring.

As far as Wine goes, it seems to be out of my control as I've heard complaints from other GameMaker users about really slow loading times etc...
